Safety & Insurance
Staying safe on the road, reporting incidents, and insurance cover.
If you encounter a safety issue during a delivery:
- If you are in immediate danger, call 999 (or 112) first.
- Once safe, report the incident through the app via the delivery details screen.
- You can also email our safety team through the contact page.
All safety reports are treated as high priority and investigated promptly.
If you are involved in an accident while delivering:
- Get to safety and check for injuries.
- Call emergency services (999/112) if anyone is hurt.
- Exchange details with other parties involved.
- Take photos of the scene and any damage.
- Report the incident to Lasta support through the app.
Do not continue delivering if you are injured or your vehicle is damaged.
Lasta is developing a comprehensive insurance programme for delivery partners. Currently, all delivery partners are covered by our basic terms of service which include guidelines for safe handling and delivery.
We strongly recommend that cyclists and e-bike riders carry their own personal accident insurance. If you use a motorised vehicle, you must have appropriate insurance including hire and reward cover.
We recommend the following safety equipment:
- Helmet — mandatory for cyclists and e-bike riders.
- High-visibility vest or jacket — especially for evening and night deliveries.
- Front and rear lights — required for cycling after dark.
- Phone mount — for safe navigation while riding.
For deliveries after dark:
- Always wear high-visibility clothing and use lights on your vehicle.
- Stick to well-lit routes when possible.
- Keep your phone charged and accessible.
- Trust your instincts — if a delivery location feels unsafe, contact support.
- Share your location with a trusted contact.
The Lasta Driver app includes an emergency feature accessible during active deliveries. If you feel unsafe, you can quickly alert our support team and share your live location. This feature is designed for situations where you need immediate assistance but may not be able to make a phone call.
If you are a victim of or witness a crime during a delivery:
- In an emergency, always call 999 or 112 immediately.
- If the incident has already occurred and you are not in immediate danger, contact your local Garda station.
- Document as many details as possible — time, location, descriptions of people or vehicles involved.
- Report the incident through the Lasta Driver app as well, so our team is aware and can support you.
Lasta takes all reports of criminal activity seriously. We will cooperate fully with An Garda Síochána and support you through any follow-up process.
Lasta has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment, discrimination, and offensive behaviour directed at delivery partners — whether from customers, restaurant staff, or any other party.
If you experience any form of harassment or discrimination:
- You are never required to complete a delivery if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
- Report the incident through the app by going to the delivery details and tapping Report an Issue.
- You can also contact our team via the contact page.
- All reports are treated with urgent priority and escalated to senior team members.
We strongly encourage you to also report serious incidents to An Garda Síochána.
